After much talk of the Philadelphia Flyers moving up during the 2013 NHL Draft, the team decided to stay put and use the 11th overall pick.
With the Dallas Stars likely stealing left winger Valeri Nichushkin from the Flyers, GM Paul Holmgren announced that the club would select defenseman Samuel Morin of Rimouski Oceanic in the QMJHL.
Morin, who will be turning 18 on July 12th, stands tall at 6’6″, 203 lbs. In 46 games with Rimouski, he scored four goals and added 12 assists, and racked up 117 PIM. He had seven points in just six playoff games.

A towering presence on the blue line, Morin plays plenty of minutes against the opposing team’s top offensive units and is called upon to provide a steadying force in the defensive end.
