All Things Philly Sports:
The Phillies have made another free agent signing, inking former Nationals outfielder Laynce Nix to a 2 year deal according to Jim Salisbury of CSN. Nix is a 9 year veteran who has played for 4 teams in his career. He hit a career-high 16 home runs with the Nationals last season in 324 at-bats.The signing of Nix adds a left-handed bat to the outfield mix and figures to be amongst several options for the Phillies in left field. Nix won't play every day but will be a good platoon option against right-handed pitching and will probably push Ben Francisco out the door. His addition won't have much impact on Domonic Brown, who will still hopefully be given a chance to play in left field regularly. With the Phillies likely set in the outfield, shortstop has to be next. I would bet that a deal for Jimmy Rollins comes sooner rather than later.

After signing four consecutive minor-league contracts, outfielder Laynce Nix agreed to a two-year deal with the Philadelphia Phillies.
Nix can be a useful piece for an organization that is willing to acknowledge his faults and limit him to a part-time player. As a left-hander, he has always struggled against left-handed pitching, though he has always showed plus-power against right...
Could a Nix-Wigginton platoon replace Ryan Howard's production?
Laynce Nix is a 31-year-old journeyman outfielder who in his life has never received a major league contract. So, of course, Phillies GM Ruben Amaro Jr. just signed him to a 2-year deal.
But that’s not what has me worked up this morning. What has me worked up is something that Philadelphia Daily News beat writer...
One outfielder in, one outfielder out. Hello Laynce Nix, goodbye Ben Francisco. Ruben Amaro inked himself an outfielder the day before the MLB Winter Meetings begin in Dallas, Texas (they start today), and that outfielder is Nix, who is a left-handed batter that is getting a 2 year pact from the Phillies. Merry Christmas! Dude lived off 4 straight minor league contracts, so 2...

It will be the veteran's fifth team in nine seasons, where he has amassed a less than impressive line of .244/.288/.430.
Like the Ty Wigginton deal before it, Nix is coming to town...
Considering it is the offseason, this has been a busy week for the Phillies. In an unusual roster move, the Phillies have potentially signed left fielder Laynce Nix, 31, to a two-year deal, pending a physical. I say this is unusual because in a 9-year career, Nix is a .244 hitter and from 2006-2008, he spent most of his time in the minors.
Last year with the Nationals, Nix...
