The Phillies have a zero percent chance of making the playoffs this season at least according to every reliable metric available. It is safe to say they have no shot at making some improbable run. Every player in the Phillies’ clubhouse knows this. And yet there seems to be a revival among the once-downtrodden Phillies. They speak about how many games are left and what they can show in that time. They showed plenty Thursday night. Domonic Brown laced an RBI single to right field to cap a furious comeback from the Phillies giving the home team their second straight walk-off win with a 5-4 series-clinching victory against the Rockies (59-70) on Thursday. “I think we got 30 games left and we’re trying to make a statement coming into next year” Brown said afterward. “We’re having a lot of fun.” And for the second straight night Michael Young was back in the thick of things. After recording the walk-off double in Wednesday’s win Young plated Jimmy Rollins on a dribbling infield single to tie the game with two outs in the ninth. He later scored the game-winning run from second on Brown’s single. “I’d like to do something before those final at-bats to be honest with you” Young said with a laugh. Behind Young’s heroics and some clutch hitting the Phillies (57-70) have won four of five three of those via walk-off. The hot streak comes after starting the second half 5-21. “As tough as that stretch was – and there’s no getting around it it was a very difficult stretch for our team – I felt like we knew we were better than that” Young said. “And we look forward to showing that over the next five weeks.”
