During tonight's game, John McDonald took third base in place of third baseman Cody Asche after he singled in the 7th inning. Todd Zolecki has manager Ryne Sandberg's explanation: “On the ball heading to the gap, he put a little extra into the run and felt a little something,” Ryne...

This week the Pat and Corey cover the first week under new Phillies manager Ryne Sandberg. Was his hiring the catalyst for a team that won 5 of 6 games? Or perhaps it was Roy Halladay’s first start since going on the DL that will serve to energize the team. Still, like C.C. Sabathia in New York, the guys discuss how Roy’s performance is still below expectations.

With the Phillies’ decision to try Double-A third base prospect Maikel Franco at first base recently a bit of a dilemma with how to use slugger Jim Murphy arose. The 27-year-old Eastern League All-Star has held down first base at several levels of the minors since he was drafted by the Phillies out of Washington State University in 2008.
In a season where Murphy’s Law has been in place for the first five months at least the Phillies can enter the final month of 2013 not having to worry about a thing concerning Cole Hamels.
Despite his league leading loss total the 29-year-old lefthander has slowly but surely looked like himself this summer. Hamels resurgence continued on Wednesday night at Citi Field.
The Phillies were absolutely crushed by the Mets Thursday afternoon. Ethan Martin lasted four innings while giving up three runs, but the bullpen lost control of the game in the later innings. The offense was only able to scrape one run across in the first seven innings (on a sac fly by Darin Ruf), and the Phillies lost 11-3.
Ethan Martin is struggling...
The red hot Cole Hamels took on newly-acquired Mets pitcher Daisuke Matsusaka at Citi Field tonight. Hamels remained sharp, and Matsusaka, making just his second start in 2013, showed the rust that he is still shaking off. The Phillies loaded the bases both in the second inning and in the...
Ethan Martin was much better than his last time out. Then again, that's not saying much.
Coming off a very brief outing last weekend, Martin flashed his lively fastball Thursday and struck out a career-high nine, but only made it through four innings for the Philadelphia Phillies in an 11-3 loss to the New York Mets.
''I've felt pretty decent almost every start...
The Philadelphia Phillies are no longer competing for the playoffs, but they do have a few young players that make it worth continue tuning into their games. Unfortunately, the Phillies top two youngsters have been absent of late. While Philadelphia got outfielder Domonic Brown back in the lineup last night, they were still without third baseman Cody Asche.
The Phillies are 8-5 since Ryne Sandberg became "interim" manager. They've also won two series in a row and can make it three with a win this afternoon against the Mets. Ethan Martin gets the opportunity to make up for the 2/3 inning debacle he had last start in the marathon 18 inning game. Matt Harvey was scheduled to start for the Mets, but he might be heading...

Here’s how the Mets week has been going. Their star young pitcher Matt Harvey went down with a pretty serious injury. That put in motion some trade talks and they traded...
Trevor May with Reading in 2012, Image- Jay Floyd
Following his team’s heart wrenching 9-8 loss to the Trenton Thunder on Wednesday, in which the Twins’ Double-A affiliate New Britain failed to maintain two separate extra-inning leads, right-handed pitcher Trevor May reflected on his season as well as a trade that brought him to a new organization last winter. What’s in the...
