It’s June 6, and the Phillies are finally over .500.
Soak that in for a little while. It’s the first time the Phils are above water this season, and it took five straight wins to get there. It feels good. A win streak like this is exactly what this teams needs, and they continued to roll tonight, knocking off the Brewers 5-1.
They had it all working, getting runs early and leaning on another positive start from Tyler Cloyd.
NEW LINEUP, SAME RESULTS
- Charlie Manuel raised some eyebrows when he tabbed Michael Young to be the leadoff man. The adjustment, as puzzling as it seemed to some people before the game, wouldn’t slow down a team that had scored at least six runs in their last four games, and at least five in five of their last six before tonight. Now you can make it six of their last seven.
- The bats got off to a fast start, scoring two in the first, one in the second and one in the third. Their...

With the 16th pick in the 2013 MLB First Year Player Draft the Philadelphia Phillies select J.P. Crawford, shortstop, Lakewood High School, California. Crawford is the cousin of Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Carl Crawford. Lakewood has its history of many MLB players coming out of there and so do the Phillies as it is the second year in a row that the Phillies have taken a...
Father’s Day is June 16th and let’s face it, you probably haven’t gotten dear old dad anything yet. If you’re a Phillies fan, there’s a good chance you can thank your dad for that. That’s why we’re making it easy for you to get him a quality present and get 20% off your order. And you know he’ll appreciate that deal!
We’ve totally revamped the Phillies Nation store...
Growing old is a difficult thing to deal with, but it seems that Philadelphia Phillies manager Charlie Manuel is in complete denial about his senior citizen status.
On Tuesday, the Phillies beat the Marlins 7-3 thanks to John Mayberry‘s 11th inning heroics. However, up until that point the big play of the game was an apparently botched interference call by umpire Bob Davidson against...
A Philadelphia Phillies fan was captured on video applying an absurd amount of milky-white sunscreen on her lips during the Philadelphia Phillies-Miami Marlins game at Citizens Bank Park on Wednesday afternoon because, well, to be exactly honest, it’s hard to say. What can be said, however, was the entire scene was somewhat disturbing. Via [...]The post Phillies fan slathers...
The Philadelphia Phillies are on the verge of climbing over .500 for the first time this season after sweeping one last-place team. To crack the break-even mark, they could use a better performance against another cellar dweller.
The Phillies, who dropped two of three to Milwaukee this past weekend, will try for an improved showing in a four-game series with the Brewers beginning...
GO, CARGO, GO!
credited to UPI/Gary C. Caskey When Johnny Cueto was scratched from his start today and placed on the 15-day disabled list, the Colorado Rockies had to be tickled when Cincinnati Reds manager Dusty Baker decided to give Pedro Villarreal his first major league start. If Villarreal didn’t know before his debut that the Rockies are the best hitting team in the national league...
MILWAUKEE -- Barring a long extra innings game Thursday or Friday, Milwaukee Brewers left-hander Tom Gorzelanny will start Saturday against Philadelphia.
With right-hander Marco Estrada going on the 15-day disabled list with a left hamstring strain, the Brewers needed to find a starter for Saturday. Milwaukee is opting to move Gorzelanny to rotation for the time being instead of...
MILWAUKEE -- The Milwaukee Brewers have placed right-hander Marco Estrada on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left hamstring.
Despite his struggles in Triple-A this season, Tyler Thornburg has been recalled and will start Saturday in place of Estrada.
Estrada strained his left hamstring in the fifth inning of Monday's 10-2 loss to Oakland and had to leave the game after...
On a beautiful Wednesday afternoon, the Phillies beat the Marlins, 6-1, finally getting back to the .500 mark with a sweep. They’re back level ground for the first time since they were 6-6. It’s also the first time the Phils have won four straight games.
As my colleague Corey Seidman pointed out via twitter, the Phillies have scored at least six runs in four consecutive games...
Courtesy J.P. Crawford's Twitter The Phillies used their first round pick in the 2013 amateur draft to select shortstop J.P. Crawford. Crawford hails from Lakewood High School in California. Crawford is a lefty hitter who throws right-handed (not that any shortstop throws left-handed). The Phillies picked sixteenth overall. Crawford is...

The Class A Advanced Florida State League All-Star rosters were announced on Wednesday and the North Division team included seven Phillies prospects from the Clearwater Threshers.
Included on the team are outfielders Cameron Perkins and Aaron Altherr, third baseman Maikel Franco, second baseman Carlos Alonso, catcher Logan Moore...
Round 2, pick 54 RHP Devin Williams (6-3, 165), Hazelwood West (Mo.) H.S.: Long, athletic pitcher with tremendous upside and a projectable frame. Williams was ranked as the 20th overall prospect in the draft by ESPN.com, and many feel the Brewers got a first-round talent with Williams falling to them. His fastball sits in the 88-92 mph range, but has increased in the past year....
Photo by Rich Wilkins The Phillies went 81-81 last year, and went into this evening at 29-30, which has prompted many people to begin wondering what the sell-off looks like come July. It's probably a little premature, and I know that, but I have too. One name that keeps coming...

Tucker Neuhaus was unlucky in high school. There's no two ways around it.
His 19-year-old brother Tyler, a catcher at Hillsborough Community College, was killed in a single-car accident on November 30, 2012.
The first time the Brewers were scouting him, a routine ground ball took an errant hop and punctured his ear drum.
The next time...
There is a witch hunt going on in the MLB and it involves our favorite son, Ryan Braun. I don't know why, but there is. The mainstream media is a big part of it because they want to get the scoop, they want to break the story and they want to get the page views. They learned from the Melky Cabrera situation that he just doesn't get the clicks anymore. They've learned...
