The Pittsburgh Panthers have released their schedule for this upcoming year. The Panthers are still a member of the Big East Football Conference even though there was speculation the team could buy out and enter the ACC sooner. The team is heading in to their spring football program with their second coach in two years. Head Coach Paul Chryst is taking over the team after Todd Graham left the team to become the head coach at Arizona State University.

Chryst's offenses at the University of Wisconsin, where he was the Offensive Coordinator, have mainly all been your typical pro-style offense. His offense usually consists of exposive skill position players, and huge maulers for lineman. Looking at Pittsburgh's offensive roster you can see that this team truly is built to play his type of offense.

Implementing his ideas, and getting everyone on the same page shouldn't be too hard for Chryst. Which brings us to this year's schedule:

Date Opponent Sept. 1 Youngstown State Sept. 6 (Thurs.) @ Cincinnati* (ESPN) Sept. 15 Virginia Tech Sept. 22 Gardner-Webb Sept. 29 Open Oct. 5 (Fri.) @ Syracuse* (ESPN) Oct. 13 Louisville* Oct. 20 @ Buffalo Oct. 27 Temple* Nov. 3 @ Notre Dame (NBC) Nov. 9 (Fri.) @ Connecticut* (ESPN2) Nov. 17 Open Nov. 24 Rutgers* Dec. 1 @ South Florida*
Looking at this slate, it doesn't look particularly daunting. Their toughest opponent will be a home game against Virginia Tech, followed by games at Cincinnati and Notre Dame. They could easily win 9 or 10 games this season depending on preperation, injuries, and an equal understanding of strategies by the players.

This poses a great opportunity for first-year-coach Chryst and his beaten up program to turn things around and get back on track just before they pack up and move to the ACC. Don't make any predictions yet as spring football has just started, but if everything goes their way this spring they could have a great fall.
