This Is Getting Old:
Can’t win em all I guess. First Pitch: 7:05 Where To Watch: Root Sports, MLB.TV, FS-H Bud Norris, RHP (27) Astros? Bud? It seems like the Pirates are playing against the SPCA. Thankfully that isn’t his real name. His real name is David. Not sure where bud came from so I’ll just assume [...]

Astros relief pitcher Wilton Lopez stuck it to the Marlins on Wednesday by doing their gesture after hitting Hanley Ramirez with a pitch in the 7th inning of a 5-3 loss. Ramirez stared down Lopez as he walked to first. Astros manager Brad Mills decided to pull Lopez after the hit batsman, and that’s when Lopez glanced to the Marlins dugout and did the gesture you see above.
When a team signs a player to a six-year/$52 million contract, you hope that there are a number of reasons why they thought that player deserved the money. I spent some time this winter listing the reasons why I think Andrew McCutchen is worth that kind of money to the Pirates, but really, you'd only have to watch Wednesday night's game to understand the sort of effect he...

HOUSTON (AP) -- Omar Infante's bases-loaded two RBI single in the 12th inning lifted the Miami Marlins to a 5-3 win over the Houston Astros on Wednesday night.
Logan Morrison singled in the 12th before a walk by Giancarlo Stanton. Greg Dobbs grounded into a force out at second and left runners on the corners. Reliever David Carpenter (0-2) walked John Buck with two outs to load...
Andrew McCutchen had four hits, including his second home run in as many nights, to lead the Pittsburgh Pirates to a 4-2 win over the Washington Nationals on Wednesday.
Brad Lincoln (2-0) earned the win in relief of starter Erik Bedard, who was lifted three pitches into the second inning due to back spasms.
Joel Hanrahan survived a shaky ninth to pick up his sixth save as the Pirates...
First off let me just end my condolences to Joel Hanrahan on the loss of his grandmother. Last night was exactly the type of game I wouldn’t expect the Pirates to win. Usually. Even though I was worried about Bedard though for some reason it just seemed like the Pirates would pull it out. Probably [...]
Final: Nationals 4, Pirates 2
WP: Stephen Strasburg (3-0, 1.64 ERA)
LP: Kevin Correia (1-3, 3.47 ERA)
SV: Henry Rodriguez (7, 2.63 ERA)
The last time the Pirates face Strasburg, it was in his ML debut in front of a national audience. He dominated them. It was pretty much a lot of the same this time around. Over six innings, Strasburg gave up two runs (one earned) on five hits and...
The Pittsburgh Pirates haven't given James McDonald much help this season.
He may not need a whole lot as the Pirates open this three-game series with the slumping Houston Astros at Minute Maid Park on Friday night.
McDonald (2-1, 2.70 ERA) has been backed by two or fewer runs in five of his six starts, and he's yet to allow more than three runs in any of his outings.
