In the end, Notre Dame was just too much for Purdue, earning a 31-24 victory in Ross-Ade Stadium. While Darrell Hazell won't accept moral victories for his program, he sure can be pleased with the heart his team showed.
Notre Dame didn't receive theirs until the team re-took the field following the halftime break. From there they looked competent and competitive though nowhere near the admirable collection of championship contenders that took the field last fall.
