Canadian Press/Darryl Dyck VANCOUVER – Other than losing their starting goalie, finding out shortly before the game their top left winger wouldn’t play, losing another top winger with an injury and then losing a game on a bad bounce with a few minutes left, it was a fine night for the Burgundy and Blue. Avs lose 3-1 to Vancouver, and now are without J.S. Giguere, TJ Galiardi and Peter Mueller, with Matt Duchene still not ready to play. If it isn’t already, it’s close to desperation time for the Avs. They are barely hanging on to 10th place in the conference, with Anaheim now closing face on them and the other bubble teams. The Avs MUST beat Edmonton Friday night, not just to stay in the playoff hunt but to put a stop to this ridiculous intra-divisional skidding record. The loss tonight dropped them to 2-13-1 in the Northwest. That ain’t good enough. About tonight: - Giguere said he doesn’t think the injury is serious. But we’ll see what he and the team say tomorrow. - Semyon Varlamo...

Canucks' Daniel Sedin vows to remedy shootout woes

Daniel Sedin is tired of the Vancouver Canucks missing out on points due to shootout failures. Taken a step further, the left wing is also tired of failing to score in the bonus format. After all, Sedin has converted just four of 22 attempts since the shootout made its NHL debut in the 2005-06 season. "I think (coach Alain Vigneault) is going to pick whoever he picks, and...

Phoenix Coyotes vs. Canucks blog: love ’em & hate ’em

#1stPlaceProblems As I pointed out last week, here is the conundrum Vancouver Canucks fans find themselves in: the team has been winning in 2012, but my god has the entertainment factor diminished. Still, the team has been winning and for the first 30 years of this franchise, they weren’t doing that. But in the past ten years or so, the team has made winning with style their...

Ian Esplen: Canucks Top Yotes in a Shootout

Another game, another shootout for the Vancouver Canucks, but at least they are getting the hang of it now.  For the eighth time in their past thirteen games, The Canucks battled into overtime and took their chances in the shootout.
