Flying High:
Kick
'em while they're down.
That's
my advice to the Atlanta Falcons as the Carolina Panthers come to
town today. The Panthers are coming in reeling from their QB's worst
performance since, well, his last performance. Jake Delhomme played
so bad against the Eagles that Carolina head coach John Fox pulled
him mid-way through the third quarter, placing the ball in the hands
of ill-fated Josh McCown, who would finish the game on the bench,
injured and lost for the season. If this were the film Any Given
Sunday, with Al Pacino playing
Fox, and Jamie Foxx playing Matt Moore, it would be a bizarre turn of
events that would, in the long run, play out with the Panthers deep
in the playoffs and Moore learning a lot about himself and his mentor
Fox. Alas (for them), this is not the movies, and though Moore
statistically outplayed his two predecessors, he will remain on the
bench and in an emergency role, as A.J. Feely was brought in as
backup.
But
that's all just a ran...
