The Oakland Raiders are thin at a lot of positions on defense, but only the corner back position is thinner than the line backing unit. The Raiders began addressing their lack of depth with the signing of Kaluka Maiava earlier today, and now they are set to host Dan Connor. Connor was cut by the Dallas Cowboys after refusing to take a pay cut earlier this off season. Connor started 8 games last season after injuries forced him into the starting role. After not playing as well as the Cowboys would have liked, they asked him to take a pay cut a year after signing him to a two year contract. Source: SBNation.com

Raiders got to feel the pain before they gain

It’s a somber day Raider Nation, as we say goodbye to Desmond Bryant and Philip Wheeler. They were the Raiders top free agents we had to sign, but lost them to teams who were willing to outbid us in the end. It’s painful to watch these events transpire, and to have the very hope you had for next season dashed in an instant. However these moves and losses had to be made for the...

Just one day after losing three key members of the defense (Philip Wheeler, Desmond Bryant, Michael Huff), the Raiders began plugging some holes.  Per the team’s website, they signed Jason Hunter, Kaluka Maiava, and Pat Sims to contracts.  All three are defensive veterans. Hunter is a defensive end who last played for the Broncos, but missed 2012 with a triceps injury.  However...

#Raiders DT Desmond Bryant is going to sign with Cleveland. Best DT on the market. — Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) March 13, 2013 The best DT on the market, he is. He would've been great paired with Vince Wilfork, but alas the interest in him was too high. That's usually a trademark sign that the Patriots won't be picking him up. Desmond Bryant's deal with Cleveland...
