Even after the Lance Berkman signing, the Texas Rangers are
still “looking for more,” according to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports, who adds that
free agents Michael Bourn and Kyle Lohse and Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder
Justin Upton could all be in play for the club.

While Berkman was a nice get for Texas, assuming he can
continue to produce at a level he did for the St. Louis Cardinals, the Rangers
have still had a relatively disappointing offseason. The club has missed out on
several high-profile targets, including Josh Hamilton, Mike Napoli and Zack
Greinke.
There are still a few solid free agents remaining on the
market, and the Diamondbacks are expected to trade Upton or Jason Kubel this
winter. Considering the offseason isn’t up yet, it will be interesting to see
what creative general manager Jon Dan...

Why Michael Bourn Still Hasn’t Found a Home
Michael Bourn came into this offseason as one of the top free agent outfielders. He plays a premium position in centerfield and is one of the most feared base stealers in the game. So why hasn’t anyone signed him yet? Well do you remember the name Chone Figgins? If we go back to the 2009 … Continue reading »
Source: D-backs won't trade Upton to Padres
PHOENIX -- Scratch San Diego off the list of possible landing spots for Justin Upton or Jason Kubel.
The Padres and D-backs front-office teams touched base about a possible trade involving Upton, according to a baseball source, but were unable to find a match because the player the D-backs are most interested in acquiring, third baseman Chase Headley, will not be traded.
At the...
The Extent of Michael Bourn’s Capability
Everybody loves a long home run, because they’re impressive, because they’re difficult. Last year, there were 96 particularly long home runs, if we somewhat arbitrarily set a minimum distance of 450 feet. That’s according to the ESPN Home Run Tracker. Giancarlo Stanton was responsible for seven of them. Miguel Cabrera was responsible for four of them, Yoenis Cespedes three...
Analyzing Hypothetical Headly for Upton Trade
Justin Upton – Photo by: CEBImagery.com
Yesterday we learned that at some point in July the Padres and Diamondbacks at least discussed the possibility of a trade involving Chase Headley and Justin Upton. Those discussions were supposed to have continued on and off since. The report on MLBTraderumors attributed that information as coming from “major league sources,” and while...
Upton for Headley? D-backs still talking deal
Justin Upton for Chase Headley?
The Arizona Diamondbacks and San Diego Padres have held on-and-off discussions about a trade involving those players since July, but the talks have failed to progress, according to major league sources.
The Diamondbacks, however, continue to discuss Upton with other clubs, including the Texas Rangers and Seattle Mariners, sources say, while also...

Say No to Upton, Kubel
#mets talked to AZ about upton/kubel. prospect/player price 2 high on @jus10up10, kubel not perfect fit.
— Jon Heyman (@JonHeymanCBS) January 7, 2013
As much as Jason Kubel can hit homers and Justin Upton is talented, the cost far outweighs the reward in this scenario.
Upton might cost a package starting with Jon Niese. We are building toward having a dominant future pitching staff...
Sources say Headley for Upton swap has been discussed
You just never know what you might come across on the internet. Today a brief post on MLBTR really caught my attention. Citing “major league sources,” Zach Links writes that a potential deal involving Padres 3B Chase Headley going to the Diamondbacks in exchange for OF Justin Upton has been discussed on and off since last July.
That rumored deal probably made a lot more sense...
Mets and D’Backs Discussed Upton and Kubel
The Mets and Diamondbacks have had discussions about potential trades involving outfielders Justin Upton and Jason Kubel, according to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports.
Heyman adds that Arizona’s asking price was too rich for the Mets’ tastes on Upton, while Kubel wasn’t a perfect fit for the team.
I wonder what they wanted for Upton?
With Alderson you just never know because when...
Rumor Mill: Mets have discussed trades for Arizona's Upton and Kubel
The Mets have discussed trades for Jason Kubel and Justin Upton, according to CBSSports.com's Jon Heyman.
Neither of the talks seems promising. The price for Upton was too high for the Mets, and Kubel was not a “perfect fit,” according to Heyman. The Mets are in need of outfielders. The team currently has a mix of Lucas Duda, Kirk Nieuwenhuis, Mike Baxter and Jordany Valdespin...

My Pre-Season Top 5 World Series Contenders
It has come to that time where most of the major free agents have found their homes and it seems like most major deals are done, barring a Justin Upton deal. Today I sat back and really gave some thought as to who is a true contender and narrowed it down to the top 5. Here are my predictions for the 2013 World Series, in order!
1. Washington Nationals
The Nationals are the most...
Heyman: Mets have checked in on Upton and Kubel
The New York Mets appear set to begin the season with a starting outfield consisting of Mike Baxter, Kirk Nieuwenhuis, and Lucas Duda. I honestly think you’d be hard pressed to find a scout around the league that thinks any one of those guys (let alone all three) is currently a legitimate starting outfielder, so to say this is a point of weakness for the Mets is an understatement...
