ARLINGTON, Texas -- So apparently Texas Rangers reliever Tanner Scheppers wasn't involved in a fight in Cleveland after all. The team said Monday they have a full understanding of what happened in the incident Thursday night in Cleveland. Scheppers was jumped on the street and punched in the face. He sustained a bruised left eye and cuts on his face as well as a headache form the altercation. That's what Scheppers said happened Saturday, but at the time he said he was alone. Monday he said that he was with teammates Joe Nathan and A.J. Pierzynski when he was hit. "Initially I didn't say that because I didn't feel like it was a big deal," Scheppers said. "I didn't really want to involve them. They were there with me so they know what happened. They mostly just picked up off the floor." According to a police report, the incident occurred at 2:30 a.m. Friday at a bar. After the incident, Scheppers was given a ride by the police back to the team hotel. He was unavailable to pitch in Friday's 11-8 loss to the Indians. "I've turned the page," Scheppers said. "Unfortunately the incident happened. I just really want to thank the Cleveland police because they did handle it pretty properly. They took me back to the hotel and everything. Next time I will be just a little more careful."
