Toronto has playoff aspirations heading into the new season, but that will only become a reality if Rudy Gay performs up to his potential. Gay was traded from Memphis to Toronto in late-January. Although his points per game increased, the poor shooting continued. The blame for his inept shooting has been vision problems. Gay’s three-point shooting has declined as his career progresses. In attempt to solve his eye problems, Gay underwent eye surgery to repair astigmatism in his eyes. Raptors head coach Dwane Casey is keeping his fingers crossed that eye surgery will cure Gay’s game. Gay is the big name on the Raptor roster, and though he averaged 19.5 points after coming to Toronto from Memphis in a late-January trade, he shot just 42.5 percent from the field and 33.6 percent from the 3-point line.
