Former Baltimore Ravens star Ray Lewis and Pharrell have teamed together for a short film called Ready for August, a movie based on Lewis’ high school career. It’s definitely an interesting combination but you know what this means there has to be a musical element, why else would Pharrell be involved? The two have released a mixtape to promote the short but that’s not it, the mixtape is the start of a contest. Under Armour is running a contest where users can take the stem, Ray Lewis speeches, and upload their own beats underneath it. The winning tracks will be included in Ready for August when it airs on the September 23rd edition of Monday Night Football on ESPN. Not a bad contest for a producer who is unknown. Now for the Pharrell mixtape version I feel like he wasted some beats. The style he went with is perfect for what he’s doing but using Ray Lewis speeches does these beats NO justice.
