The Tampa Bay Rays recalled left-hander Jeff Beliveau, and right-hander Alex Colome was optioned to Triple-A Durham, the team announced Friday. The moves came a day after Tampa Bay announced that right-hander Chris Archer will start Saturday against the Cleveland Indians at Progressive Field. Archer, 24, is 5-3 with a 3.96 ERA in 10 starts for Triple-A Durham this season. He has given up 50 hits and six home runs. Archer has six major league appearances (four starts), all with the Rays in 2012. He has a 1-3 record with a 4.60 ERA in 29 13 innings in the majors. Beliveau, who was acquired from the Rangers for cash considerations in April, is expected to add bullpen depth. He is 0-1 with a 3.29 ERA in 13 23 innings this season in Durham, having given up 13 hits and 11 walks. Meanwhile, Colome pitched 5 23 innings in his major league debut Thursday, giving up one run (unearned), five hits and two walks to go with seven strikeouts in the Rays 5-2 victory over the Miami Marlins at Marlins Park to complete a four-game sweep in the Citrus Series. The Rays (29-24), winners of five consecutive games, are two games into an eight-game road trip that continues at 7:05 tonight in Cleveland.
