MLB Injury News:
The Tampa Bay Rays held center fielder Desmond Jennings out of yesterday's weekend finale against the San Francisco Giants due to a sprained finger, according to Sam Strong of MLB.com.
Jennings suffered the injury in the 10th inning of Saturday's contest when he slid into second base. He was seen wearing a splint to protect the finger yesterday, but Tampa Bay received good news when X-rays came back negative.
At this point, Jennings doesn't believe the finger is something that will require him to spend time on the disabled list. He told reporters that it "doesn't feel broken," and he and the Rays are hopeful he'll be able to return after taking a game or two off. In addition to yesterday's day off, Tampa Bay doesn't begin its next series until Tuesday, so Jennings will get two full days to rest his finger before his next opportunity to play.
Jennings has been a pivotal part of the Rays' offense this season. Sliding over to center field full-time with the absence of B.J. Upton, Jennings has held his own in the field and at the plate. Over 466 plate appearances, the 26-year-old has hit .258/.326/.419 with 24 doubles, five triples and 11 home runs with 17 stolen bases in 24 attempts.

This is a team that hasn’t made the playoffs since their 1985 World Series championship. What were they thinking by dealing Myers?

Truth be told the most dificult part of the 10th inning for Wil Myers was the on-field celebration that followed his winning hit.
"It was pretty hard" Myers said.
The pounding on his head and his back was a bit much. That his teammates tried to rip off his uniform was a kind of odd too for the rookie.
