One of the worst kept secrets going into the 2013 NFL season is who will be the Miami Dolphins starting running back. Since the departure of Reggie Bush, the name Lamar Miller has constantly chimed through the air as the ‘next man up.’ Quarterback Ryan Tannehill went ahead and gave his blessing in May and just about every expert says Miller is not only going to be the starter, he’s going to a darn good one at that. Miller has been working out with 49ers lead back and fellow Hurricane Frank Gore at Bommarito Performance Systems where Gore, Miller and many other NFL players workout during the offseason. “The way Lamar is learning from Frank, it’s a beautiful thing,” Steelers linebacker and another former Hurricane Sean Spence said, via Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald. “Since Lamar started gravitating toward Frank, his work ethic and mentality are unparalleled,” said Pete Bommarito of Bommarito Performance Systems. “He’s the fastest running back I’ve ever seen,” said Bommarito. Miller adds: “I’ve gotten quicker doing lateral work, and I’ve become more explosive by training every day doing squats on my legs,” he said. “I’m stronger. Last year, I was kind of lost getting adjusted to the speed of the game and knowing where I’m supposed to be at all times. Now I’m very comfortable with the system.”
