The Boston Red Sox have agreed to a two-year $26mm deal with DH slugger David Ortiz, Rob Bradford of WEEI.com reports. The deal also includes $4mm in incentives.
The two sides had mutual interest in getting a deal done. Last week, we heard that the two sides were discussing a two-year deal in the $25mm range.
Ortiz is a big John Farrell supporter and with his recent hiring as manager, there was little doubt that the two sides would get a deal completed.
Ortiz, 36, had a tremendous season in Boston last year hitting .318/.415/.611 with 23 HR's, 60 RBI's and a 171 OPS+ in 383 plate appearances with the team.
