Brandon Workman Working (FenwayNation Photo)This was was pretty much a cake-walk from the second inning on, as Boston man-handled Joe Saunders and the Mariners on the way to an 8-2 victory. The win allowed Boston to keep pace with the Rays, who also won. Rookie starter Brandon Workman had yet another impressive outing—going six innings and giving up just one earned run. He had a mid-90s fastball and a devastating 76 MPH curveball stymieing the M's all night. The offense was powered by Jacoby Ellsbury (solo HR), Dustin Pedroia (2-R HR) and Jarrod Saltalamacchia (2 R-HR).

His first time out as starting pitcher for the Red Sox, Brandon Workman carried a no-hitter into the seventh inning against the Oakland Athletics. It was an impressive start but as the offense faltered, the rookie wasn’t able to get the win.
Tuesday night was different, though. Supported by a strong performance from his offense, Workman pitched six innings and cam away with the...
BOSTON — It’s tough being a rookie.
Brandon Workman turned in another solid effort Tuesday as the Red Sox defeated the Mariners, 8-2, yet the 24-year-old will likely be bounced from the starting rotation now that Jake Peavy has joined the mix. But even if that is the case, Workman has still shown enough to warrant a spot in the Boston bullpen.
Workman gave up a run in the first...
The Boston Red Sox (63-44) are back in second place in the AL East after Monday night’s debacle in the eighth inning. They now turn their attention to the visiting Seattle Mariners (50-55) to kickoff a stretch of upcoming games against teams currently under .500. Boston plays 16 games in 17 days, with 10 of them on the road, but only the Arizona...

BOSTON — Brandon Workman has done enough to stick around the majors. He’ll have a new role moving forward, though.
Red Sox manager John Farrell said before Wednesday’s game that Workman will join the club’s bullpen, and that he will likely be available Saturday at the earliest after starting Tuesday’s game against the Mariners.
The Red Sox’ acquisition of starter Jake...

Jacoby Ellsbury and Dustin Pedroia homered in the second, giving Workman a cushy 5-1 lead that the young right-hander never squandered in just his third start in the big leagues. He allowed six...
The Red Sox beat the Seattle Mariners 8-2 last night but the real victory came more than two hours after the final out.
With the Red Sox fighting the Tampa Bay Rays for the division and everyone else for American League supremacy they fired the strongest salvo of trade deadline season swinging a three-way trade for Chicago White Sox right-hander Jake Peavy a three-time All-Star...
The Red Sox took the lead early and went on to an easy 8-2 win over Seattle tonight at Fenway.
After a 1st inning Mariners run, Brandon Workman settled down to pitch six strong innings, walking one and striking out nine. Workman faced a jam in his last inning with the bases loaded, but managed to get out of it by striking out Michael Morse and Justin Smoak back to back to end his...

Sox homer happy, win 8-2
Brandon Workman has pitched very well in his first three career starts with the Red Sox, but it took him until Tuesday night to earn the first win of his career. Workman pitched six strong innings with nine strikeouts to give the Red Sox a relatively easy 8-2 victory over the Seattle Mariners. Boston jumped...
5:43 p.m.: Much of the conversation following the Red Sox’ loss Monday understandably centered on Jerry Meals’ missed call. That talk has lingered over into Tuesday, as John Farrell spent much of his time during pregame media availability answering questions about both the situation and the potential for expanded replay in baseball.
Farrell said that he appreciates Meals admitting...
