I have no clue what it means, but Red Wings coach Mike Babcock told Fox Sports Detroit's John Keating that Jimmy Howard "hurt himself" at the end of the Wings' 3-1 win over Los Angeles, and Babcock declared that Howard would be "out for a while." As such, Petr Mrazek will start against the Ducks on Sunday. Fox Sports Detroit's Darren Eliot reports that it's a hip flexor injury, and as hip flexors aren't exactly groins, "out for a while" could mean one game. We'll have to wait and see.

Detroit Red Wings: Tomas Tatar pointing to the heavens

Captain Henrik Zetterberg and Tomas Tatar sharing an emotional hug on the bench after Tatar’s goal. Tomas Tatar slipped his glove off, kissed his index finger, and pointed towards the roof of the Staples Center after slotting in what turned out to be the game-winning goal late in the 3rd period against the Los Angeles Kings. The gesture wasn’t another one of Tatar’s flamboyant...

Injuries continue to haunt the Detroit Red Wings

Riley Sheahan celebrates his goal with Tomas Tatar (Photo credit: Mark J. Terrill/AP) The Detroit Red Wings have had to heavily rely on their youngsters for consistent production this season. For the moment, it doesn’t sound like Brian Rafalski’s worried about making an ‘NHL’ comeback

Paul posted DetroitRedWings.com's Bill Roose's conversation with former Red Wings defenseman Brian Rafalski about what I guess we'll call a faith-based comeback, but you'll note that Rafalski told Roose that he doesn't plan on uprooting himself from the Fort Myers-Naples area at present... Asked if the Wings showed interest in him playing for their ECHL affiliate...

Red Wings-Kings quick take: Howard, Sheahan and Tatar star in a hard-fought win

The Red Wings have fallen into some predictably poor habits with Jimmy Howard entrenched as the team's starter over the past couple of games--the team's bafflingly both allowing itself to be out-shot by a significant margin and it's subterfuging its puck possession game by losing faceoff battles as well. With Daniel Alfredsson (back spasms) joining Pavel Datsyuk (lower...

With heavy heart, Tomas Tatar leads Wings to victory over Kings

Tatar scored a goal for the third consecutive game in the third period Saturday, breaking a tie and helping lift the Red Wings to a 3-1 victory over the Los Angeles Kings. This, just one day after Tatar suffered the loss of his father Jan, 60, who died Friday in Slovakia. “This...

What To Pay Danny DeKeyser?

from Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press, As the Wings roll deeper into the second half of the season, one of the subplots is figuring out the value of DeKeyser — for the team and the player. If DeKeyser doesn’t miss another game, he’ll still finish the season below the century mark for his career. Not much to go on for a guy in a contract year. “Let’s get...

Tomáš Tatar scores, pays tribute to late father

Ken Daniels confirmed on FOX Sports Detroit during the Red Wings-Kings telecast on Saturday night that Red Wings left winger Tomáš Tatar indeed lost his father on Friday.
