Redskins Pick Jeremy Jarmon Could Have Big Impact In 2009

  The Washington Redskins used their third round pick in the 2009 supplemental draft to select Kentucky DE Jeremy Jarmon.  On the surface, many will assume it was another unnecessary attempt by owner Dan Snyder to improve his beloved Redskins. But after delving deeper into the possible impact Jarmon could have on the Washington defense—not just in 2009 but beyond—the pick makes a lot of sense. Jarmon, considered one of the top defensive end prospects entering this season, was expected to be in the mix as a likely top-75 selection in the 2010 NFL Draft. However, after failing a drug test in May, the NCAA ruled him ineligible to compete. He was the only player picked in today’s supplemental draft and will cost the Redskins a third-round pick in next year’s draft.
