The Bull Gator:
We aren’t the biggest fans of rhyming around here. It has its place in the world, but athletics may not be it. There are better taglines than “The Foundation for the Gator Nation” and we keep our fingers crossed that someone will come to their senses and stop calling it the “Orange and Blue Debut.” They may work for some, but not for us and that’s where you come in.
It’s your chance to rename the Orange and Blue Debut. We’re pretty sure that Florida won’t take any of your suggestions, but we’re also confident there’s enough creativity out there (and humor) to come up with some great choices. So give us your best shot.
Leave your best attempt (or attempts) in the comments below and you’ll be entered to win a Florida Gators flag from CVS Flags. Enter as many times as you wish. The TBG staff will pick the best three (be sure to hit the Thumbs Up to like the ones you think are the best because that may just sway our judging) and then you’ll be able to vote for which one you like the bes

Former Florida Gators quarterback Chris Leak is back in the AFL after signing with the Orlando Predators. Leak began the season with the Jacksonville Sharks, but was released earlier in April. He could find himself as the starting quarterback for the Predators as early as Saturday.
Leak started a game earlier this season with Jacksonville and performed admirably. He was replaced...
The USF Bulls were too much for the No. 2/5 Florida Gators baseball team on Tuesday night. The Gators struggled to find runs in the 5-3 loss. With the defeat, Florida fell to 31-10 while USF improved its record to 28-14.
The Gators 10 hits would top the Bulls nine, but Florida only managed to put runs on the board in the bottom of the sixth. Being shut out for eight of nine innings...
The No. 2/5 Florida Gators baseball team hosts instate rival (of sorts) USF on Tuesday night at 7:00pm. The Gators will look to find an offensive surge and rekindle that fire that propelled them to so many wins earlier during the 2012 season.
Opponent: USF Bulls
When: Tuesday, April 24 – 7:00pm
Where: Gainesville, FL
Records: Florida: 31-9, USF: 27-14
The Florida Gators baseball team has dropped from the top spot in the USA Today/ESPN Coaches Poll. To make matters worse, the team that took over the No. 1 ranking is not only one of the Gators biggest rivals, but also a team Florida is 3-0 against this season – the Florida State Seminoles. FSU took over the top spot and also maintained the No. 1 ranking in the Baseball America...
The position battle at cornerback may be one of the most open on the Florida Gators roster. There’s experience, youth and youth with experience, but anyone could steal playing time at any moment.
Here’s the rundown of the returning cornerbacks that were on the roster in 2011:
Jeremy Brown, RJR, 0 games, 0 starts*
Loucheiz Purifoy, FR, 13 games, 0 starts
Cody Riggs, SO, 13 games...
On Sunday, the No. 1/5 Florida Gators defeated the Georgia Bulldogs 6-3 to win the hard-fought weekend series between the two. With game one going to 16 innings, and game two resulting in a 5-3 Georgia victory, there was little doubt Florida would have a tough battle ahead of them in the series finale. The win pushed the Gators record to 31-9 (11-7 SEC).
Senior center fielder Daniel...
The time it took No. 2 Florida to adjust at the plate ended up being its downfall on Tuesday. South Florida started Matt Reed didn’t break 80 mph with a pitch he threw on the night while allowing three runs in 5.2 innings to hold the Gators at bay. The three runs didn’t come until the sixth inning. The Gators waited too long for the offense to start and suffered a 5-3 loss to South Florida.
We’re getting dangerously close to that term we throw around when things get desperate – “must-win.” We’re not at desperate just yet – it’s hard to classify a team in any sport with a record of 31-10 that way – but we’re getting there. The No. 2/5 Florida Gators baseball team enters Wednesday night’s matchup with the Bethune-Cookman Wildcats having gone 7-7 over...
The Gators will be on the schedule for both new SEC teams this fall. Luckily for Florida, head coach Will Muschamp already has some familiarity with Missouri and Texas A&M. The spread offense head coach Gary Pinkel and his staff run at Missouri causes matchup problems, and the Gators will be the first SEC team to take on the new Texas A&M offense under first-year head coach Kevin Sumlin.
Ahmad Fulwood showed up Sunday to improve his game and he showed well in doing so. The 6-4, 190 pound receiver from Jacksonville that is committed to the Florida Gators scored time and again on Sunday during one -on-one's at the NIKE NFTC and got the thing he wanted most when the competition was over... an invitation to The Opening. He talks about it all here and on camera.
Following games last season, Will Muschamp was frustrated. Even if Florida recorded a win during the 7-6 campaign, it wasn’t hard to notice Muschamp's frustration because of what was struggling to happen. He wants his offense to run the football and his defense to stop the run. The Gators struggled to do either last season, but the head coach is optimistic that spring practice improved both.
