Clemson continued a torrid stretch in recruiting Monday morning when 3-star linebacker Kendall Joseph cast his lot with the Tigers, Robert Macrae of The Clemson Insider reported. Officially committed to Clemson University. — Kendall Joseph (@KingJoseph34) June 17, 2013 Joseph followed up kicker Alex Spence’s commitment Friday to become the second in four days, 12th overall and third linebacker of Clemson’s 2014 class. Twitter/@KingJoseph34 Duke appeared to win the rights to Joseph after he and his family discussed the matter Sunday night, but a subsequent talk on the phone with Clemson defensive coordinator Brent Venables swayed the 6-1, 230-pounder. According to David Hood of TigerNet.com, two of the reversing factors for Joseph were Venables’ past ability to develop and groom talent, coupled with the opportunity to play in front of his hometown crowd. Joseph, a local product of Belton-Honea Path High School (SC), bested his sophomore season line of 115 tackles, 12 tackles for loss and two sacks by accounting for 129 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, two sacks and five forced fumbles his junior year. Clemson is currently ranked ninth in the nation by the Rivals.com 2014 Team Rankings.
