It's been a busy few days for the Los Angeles Angels (of Anaheim).
On Wednesday, the team traded one starting pitcher in Ervin Santana, sending him and cash to the Kansas City Royals for a minor league pitcher. On Friday, the team was back at it, sending Dan Haren to the Chicago Cubs in exchange for reliever Carlos Marmol, as first reported by the Chicago Sun-Times, and since confirmed by numerous other sources.
The Cubs are coming off a 61-101 season, second-worst in the National League, in which they sent their best pitcher, Ryan Dempster, to the Texas Rangers in a trade-deadline deal. Although the Angels remained in the playoff hunt until the last week of the regular season, their bullpen tied for an American League worst 22 blown saves.
Multiple reports, apparently originating with Marmol, say the Cubs' closer has been traded to Angels, presumably for Haren.
