Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports told Bull and Fox on CBS Radio in Cleveland that if Alabama head coach Nick Saban does return to the NFL, it would be to coach the Cleveland Browns. With the Browns being expected to “clean house,” it sounds like Saban would be willing to buy into what new owner Jimmy Haslam and Vice President Joe banner are trying to put together. It sounds like the Browns are finally headed in the right direction as a franchise. College Football: Should Notre Dame Even Bother Showing Up to Play?

I realize the ridiculousness of that headline, trust me I do—and bet that it was written with a LOT of sarcasm—but when you see Sports Illustrated printing out covers predicting another Crimson Tide win (they even offered a score for crying out loud), don’t you wonder who’s minding the media’s store on this sort of thing? I mean, seriously? Somewhere you just know Nick...

Cam Newton fined for ref bump

Jason La Canfora of CBSSports.com is reporting that the NFL has fined Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton $21,000 for his bump of official Jerome Boger during last week's win against the Oakland Raiders. Someone up the NFL food chain loves Newton. Bill Belichick was fined $50,000 for grabbing a ref and Vikings safety Harrison Smith was thrown out of game for contact...

Notre Dame athletes helped after Alabama tornado

A group of Notre Dame athletes won friends at the University of Alabama long before anyone knew these schools were on course to play for the national football championship. Two dozen of them traveled from South Bend, Ind., to tornado-ravaged Tuscaloosa, Ala., during fall break in 2011. They cleared lots and hauled debris a few months after the storm left more than 50 dead in the...

The great Auburn anti-Alabama t-shirt campaign wages on

The campaign by Auburn Tiger fans against the Alabama Crimson Tide is waging on. Earlier today we saw Notre Dame fans make fun of Alabama with a mobile homes shirt. We also saw the WarIrish shirts and WarIrish buttons campaign take place. Tennessee even jumped in on the fight against the Alabama Crimson Tide. I think it’s safe to say people don’t want AJ McCarron and Nick Saban’s...

Report: Browns management not sold on Brandon Weeden

Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports told Bull and FOX on CBS Radio that the Cleveland Browns’ front office isn’t sold on rookie quarterback Brandon Weeden as their long-term answer. Since Weeden wasn’t taken until late in the first round of this year’s draft, the Browns don’t owe him a lot of money going forward and could afford to move on from him and draft a quarterback in...

Report: Robert Griffin III makes the Pro Bowl

According to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III has been voted on to the NFC Pro Bowl roster and is the only rookie to be voted in. What a great accomplishment for Griffin. I can’t remember the last Redskins quarterback to make a Pro Bowl.  He certainly deserves it. We’ll have the fill list of Pro Bowl rosters this evening.  ...
