Two second-round draft picks in exchange for Paul Pierce? If that seems like a bargain for a 10-time NBA All-Star and NBA Finals MVP, that’s because it probably is. But the Cavaliers might as well send out the feeler. Cleveland has reportedly offered the Celtics those two second-round picks in exchange for the 35-year-old Pierce before this Thursday’s NBA draft, according to The News-Herald. And while this may seem unlikely, Boston is running out of time and options if it wants to stock pile draft picks in exchange for its older players. The Celtics can either trade Pierce and pay nothing, keep him for $15.3 million or buy him out for $5 million. This report comes after talks between the Clippers and Celtics to send Doc Rivers and Kevin Garnett to L.A. apparently fizzled out. There were also reports that Boston would look to send Pierce to L.A. as well.
