According to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, the Philadelphia Eagles aren’t worried about releasing quarterback Michael Vick before his February 6th roster bonus kicks in.  The bonus will guarantee him $3 million of his $16.5 million 2013 salary.  Vick’s contract likely won’t be resolved by then. New coach Chip Kelly is evaluating the situation and how Vick fits in his spread offense. The Eagles are determining how much they might be willing to pay Vick, if they do ask him to take a pay cut. Vick will not absorb any significant salary cut to remain with the Eagles, sources said, but there could be some wiggle room to work something out. Neither side is being hasty in forcing a conclusion, and the Eagles still could wind up dealing Vick, for instance, once the league year begins March 13. They are not allowed to complete a trade before the Feb. 6 deadline. As much as some people believe Vick is gone no matter what, it looks like there is a chance he could end up playing for the Eagle...

Discussing the Options at QB for Chip Kelly and the Philadelphia Eagles

The biggest roster decision Chip Kelly will make in his first season as head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles is at the quarterback position.  The question is, who will he ultimately choose to run his offense? Naturally, the first question to ask is what kind of offense he will run and what characteristics he is looking for in a quarterback.  Kelly’s offense at Oregon was mainly...

Michael Vick May Be With Eagles Past Feb. 6th, But His Release is Inevitable

For the past month or two, it has been thought that the Philadelphia Eagles would make a decision regarding the future of Michael Vick by Feb. 6th, thanks to a clause in his contract that guarantees him $3 million if he’s on the roster past that date. However, after a few reports about the Eagles not likely to be making a decision by then, Jeff McLane cleared it up by reporting...

Vick Likely To Get $3 Million Guarantee As Eagles Decide Next Step

Much has been made of the Eagles having to pay Michael Vick a $3 million guaranteed bonus if he was on the roster 3 days after the Super Bowl. Many assumed because of such a high number that it would be a forgone conclusion that Vick would be released by next week. The Star Ledger via Jason La Canfora says not so fast. La Canfora is reporting that Vick may well indeed receive that...

Eagles “Unlikely” To Make A Decision Regarding Michael Vick Any Time Soon

Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reports that sources have informed him that the Eagles are “unlikely” to make a decision regarding Michael Vick‘s future with the team before February 6. This just happens to be the date in which the $3 million of Vick’s $15.5 million salary will become guaranteed. La Canfora’s sources have mentioned that Vick is not willing to take a...

Eagles Rumors: Michael Vick Decision Not Coming Soon

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick has a clause in his contract in which he’ll be guaranteed $3 million for next year on Feb. 6. Still, the Eagles aren’t in a hurry to make a decision on Vick’s future, as the guaranteed money isn’t a major issue for the team. For this reason, Vick’s situation and Philadelphia’s ultimate decision on the veteran doesn’t appear...

Offseason Needs: Philadelphia Eagles

1. Quarterback The Philadelphia Eagles are expected to end the Michael Vick era this offseason. And while Nick Foles may be worth developing, he isn’t an immediate answer to their issues at quarterback. If they’re interested in keeping Foles, then signing a veteran makes the most sense. But if the new regime isn’t interested in Foles, Geno Smith may be a first-round option...

Patience is Key: Eagles QB Decision Not Imminent

Philadelphia Eagles fans love Quarterback controversies, and there's no way around that. No one knows why, we just do. It might be because we're just infatuated with the idea of change, which would explain fans tracking Gus Bradley's plane across the country, hopping on the "Gus Bus" and then subsequently realizing they actually have no idea who he...

It's Media Day for SB47 participants in New Orleans, which usually means 30 other teams in the league are scrambling to generate any kind of positive buzz they can for their own organizations. News items are rolling in on the Eagles as the organizational puzzle is gradually being solved. This is no time for me to try to be clever; I'll just lay them out there for the...

Report: Reggie Bush likely done in Miami

According to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, it’s “highly unlikely” that running back Reggie Bush will re-sign with the Miami Dolphins. La Canfora believes Bush’s ability to make explosive plays as well as contribute on special teams should attract a number of teams in free agency. When Bush was with the Saints no one believed he could be an “every down back,” but since...

Rashard Mendenhall might take a discount to re-sign with the Steelers

According to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, with NFL teams not wanting to spend much money on free agent running backs, Rashard Mendenhall could end up re-signing with the Steelers at a discounted rate. I agree with La Canfora, with Mendenhall coming off of ACL surgery this past season and still missing a lot of time because of other injuries, I don’t think he’s going to draw...
