At the Indians Town Hall Meeting last week at Playhouse Square, GM Chris Antonetti told the crowd that they team was still actively pursuing ways to improve the Major League roster. The obvious targets were a Third Baseman and an veteran Starting Pitcher to add depth to the rotation. It appears as though the Tribe has set its sights on the latter.
In his first scoop as the Indians.com beat reporter, Jordan Bastian tells us that the Indians are in contract talks with Right-hander Jeremy Bonderman. The former Detroit Tiger and the Tribe, according to Bastian, “are close to a Major League contract.” If this indeed comes to fruition, the 28-year old Bonderman would become a middle of the rotation starter and innings eater the Wahoos crave.
Antonetti is obviously hoping that Bonderman becomes another Tribe reclamation project success, in the mold of Kevin Millwood in 2005 and Carl Pavano in 2009. With Fausto Carmona, Justin Masterson, Mitch Talbot, and Carlos Carrasco all but...
