The NHL may loan money to the New Jersey Nets to allow the team to continue to operate the rest of the season. The New York Post, citing a source, said the league has been in talks with the Devils about a short-term loan to cover costs through April 7 - the end of the regular season. A league spokesman called the report "inaccurate." According to the report, the Devils are mulling a trade of team captain Zach Parise for draft picks. Parise is in the final year of a contract that pays him $6 million. The Devils are projected to lose up to $20 million this season, although they can recoup some of those losses by making the playoffs.

It begins....Alexei Ponikarovsky traded to Devils

Jim Rutherford has been a busy man this week as he made his second trade in four days by dealing winger Alexei Ponikarovsky to the New Jersey Devils for a 2012 4th round pick and defenseman Joe Sova. The timing of this trade may have been a bit weird, but I think it is safe to say that we all saw a move like this coming. Ponikarovsky is a pending unrestricted free agent and signed...
