The NHL may loan money to the New Jersey Nets to allow the team to continue to operate the rest of the season.
The New York Post, citing a source, said the league has been in talks with the Devils about a short-term loan to cover costs through April 7 - the end of the regular season.
A league spokesman called the report "inaccurate."
According to the report, the Devils are mulling a trade of team captain Zach Parise for draft picks. Parise is in the final year of a contract that pays him $6 million.
The Devils are projected to lose up to $20 million this season, although they can recoup some of those losses by making the playoffs.

The New Jersey Devils have two seasoned goaltenders on their roster this season. One, 38-year-old Johan Hedberg, has been a backup most of his NHL career. The other, 39-year-old Martin Brodeur, is a lock for the Hall of Fame.
But with the two seeing action in 21 and 29 of the team's 46 games, respectively, the surprising Hedberg is performing best in Newark this year.

Seconds before Nathan Hornton’s 17th goal of the season on the power play at 7:10 of the third period broke a 1-all tie, the Boston winger knocked into Matt Taormina at the blue line, sending the...
Jim Rutherford has been a busy man this week as he made his second trade in four days by dealing winger Alexei Ponikarovsky to the New Jersey Devils for a 2012 4th round pick and defenseman Joe Sova. The timing of this trade may have been a bit weird, but I think it is safe to say that we all saw a move like this coming. Ponikarovsky is a pending unrestricted free agent and signed...
This week the Devils played 3 games in the Friday to Thursday stretch. We watched them finish up a 4 game road trip in Winnipeg on Saturday afternoon where they won 2-1 and then returned home to face the same Jets on Tuesday night where they won 5-1. That was followed up by a 4-1 loss to the Bruins at home last night but Devin will have a more in depth coverage of these games in...
