By Bill CoreyPatriots offensive coordinator Bill O'Brien will become the next coach of Penn State, ESPN reported Thursday night. Longtime Penn State coach Joe Paterno was fired Nov. 9 after a child sex-abuse scandal involving former assistant Jerry Sandusky.Tom Bradley has served as interim coach of the Nittany Lions. O'Brien, who joined the Patriots staff in 2007, had coached Georgia Tech, Duke and Maryland before moving to the NFL. He interviewed with Penn State on Thursday, his agent, Joe Linta, told The Associated Press. This season, the Patriots finished third in scoring in NFL (32.1 points a game) and enter the playoffs as the AFC's top seed. ESPN NFL analyst Chris Mortensen cited anonymous sources in his 10:10 p.m. report on ESPN.com on Thursday. The report said the Nittany Lions plan to make the move official with an announcement Saturday. Terms of the deal are unknown.
