Rutgers is in search of a new men’s basketball coach after Mike Rice was caught on camera psychically shoving his players and throwing basketballs at them while shouting obscenities. According to Yahoo! Sports, Rutgers is eyeing Pistons head coach, Lawrence Frank, who coached the New Jersey Nets from 2004-2009 prior to his current position. Frank, who’s in the second year of a three-year deal he signed in 2011, says he has yet to be contacted by Rutgers.
Another strong candidate for the Rutgers job could be Detroit Pistons coach Lawrence Frank, sources told Yahoo! Sports. Pernetti expressed interest with Frank before the hiring of Rice four years ago, but he decided to stay on the NBA track.
What’s more, Frank could be open to the return to New Jersey, where his wife, Susan, has been ill. He left the Pistons for six games to be with her and his two children during the season.
