Four MLS Clubs Fall in Third Round, Two Games Left To Play Wednesday Night CHICAGO (July 1, 2009) — The third round of the 2009 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup kicked off Tuesday evening and underdog squads owned the night. Four of six MLS teams lost to lower division teams, with the Houston Dynamo and Seattle Sounders still yet to play on Wednesday, July 1. The last remaining PDL team fell as D.C. United dispatched the Ocean City Barons by a 2-0 score line. Joining D.C. United in the quarterfinals are the Charleston Battery, the Rochester Rhinos, the Wilmington Hammerheads, the Harrisburg City Islanders and Kansas City Wizards. Rochester (USL-1) and Columbus (MLS) started off a night full of penalty kicks and overtime games by playing for a full 120 minutes before needing spot kicks to decide a victor.
