Remember when you were a kid and your mother told you to be nice to your siblings? Well there was a bit of that going on from Rex Ryan to the New York Jets fans. The Jets head coach feels that his quarterback should be treated more fairly by the fans. Now Ryan didn’t pull a Terrell Owens, but he feels that the fans need to look past Sanchez’s mistakes. “Our fans have a right to do anything I’m not going to say I’m disappointed with the fans, but I think we need to move forward,” Ryan said Monday. “The things in the past are in the past. Let’s focus on what we have in front of us. We’re all going to make mistakes. I had a bad year also last year. Hopefully, our fans are all united 100 percent.” “We don’t want our guys getting booed, especially from our fans because we all wear green and white, including the fans,” Rex said. “The game is tough enough. We need to support each other. That’s probably where (Cromartie) was coming from.” “I think that’s bullcrap,” Jets defensive back Antonio Cromartie said the crowd voicing their disgust on Sanchez. “My thing is, if you’re going to be a fan, be a fan. You don’t come out here and boo anybody.” This all started when Sanchez was getting booed by Jets onlookers at their training camp in upstate New York. He threw an interception during a scrimmage and the fans let Mark know how they felt. Mark is fighting for the starting quarterback position against rookie Geno Smith. From the fan’s perspective they would like to see a new QB under center this year. After watching Sanchez turn the ball over 26 times last year, fans want to see how someone else might do. In the past two season Sanchez led the league in turnovers. Ryan feels that the past is the past and the fans should move on. “We can’t worry about what happened in the past,” Ryan said. “It’s a brand new year. There should be some excitement based on that, not looking at the negatives. I like focusing on what’s in front of us, the positive. Of course, we’d like to have a backing from 100 percent of our fans, but our fans can do what they want. They earned that right. They purchased a ticket and they can do whatever they choose.” BINGO! Right there coach is where you should stop. The fans had to play the PSL’s and the high cost for tickets so if they want to boo let them. If you want the Jets crowd to be positive get a quarterback who is known for winning and not called out for his butt fumble. People will boo if your team is playing poorly. Don’t act like this is when toddlers are playing soccer and everyone gets a medal for stepping on the field. Sanchez told the media that he zones out the crowd’s unfavorable jeers. Mark said, “Shoot, I don’t care. That’s the way it goes.” Ryan did say that the fans’ disgust for Sanchez won’t factor into the quarterback decision which is the way it should be. Yet if Sanchez is the starter and does keep playing poorly Rex should know that the boo birds will be out in full force.
