Jim Harbaugh used to coach Richard Sherman. So Sherman’s greeting for the San Francisco coach on Sunday night could be seen as some buddy-to-buddy communication. But it’s probably the newest chapter in a burgeoning feud between the two and their teams, the NFC West heavyweight 49ers and Seahawks. Sherman was in good spirits after Seattle pulled away from San Francisco 29-3 on Sunday night, calling out “pundits and ignorant idiots” in his postgame chat with Michele Tafoya on NBC. But he saved his best after-game moment for his former coach, giving him a little “good game” tap on the rear before trotting off the field. Sherman said later that he wanted to talk to Harbaugh but felt he was turned away. “I told him good job, good game, but he didn’t give me nothing back,” he said, according to NFL.com. “I guess sportsmanship doesn’t go both ways.” Harbaugh, though, said he wasn’t trying to ignore Sherman. “I didn’t realize it was him until he was moving in the other direction,” Harbaugh said. “He came up and patted me on the back, and I congratulated him.” Sherman and Harbaugh have gone back and forth before. Sherman once called Harbaugh a “bully,” and Harbaugh was accused of honking his horn and giving the Seahawks a goodbye wave after the 49ers beat Seattle in San Francisco last year. Harbaugh and Sherman no doubt enjoyed sharing their competitive edge when they were together at Stanford, but putting them on opposite sides of the NFC West means they get to send their best at each other.
