The #5 ranked Louisville Cardinals lost to Villanova last night 73-64.  The Cardinals shot exactly 50% from the free throw line going 12 of 24, while Nova shot 75%.  Louisville coach Rick Pitino blamed the loss to un-ranked Villanova on the poor free throw shooting, and called out two of the NBA's best centers ever at the same time.  “It was really a simple answer to why we lost,” Pitino said. “Basically we were Dwight Howard or Shaquille O'Neal. We came down we had a six-point lead and it could have been eight. Could have kept coming down and extending it but our free throws were a turnover. Very simple answer for why we lost. Our foul shooting was despicable.”  It just so happens that Lakers center Dwight Howard is shooting 50% from the line this season and sits around 58% for his career.  The term hack a Shaq comes from the legendary Lakers big man Shaquille O'Neal who coincidentally shot 52% for his career from the charity stripe.  So I guess Pitino was quite accurate in his statements about the notorious duo of bad free throw shooters.  The loss to Nova comes only a few days after they lost their #1 ranking following a home loss to Syracuse in which they also lost the free throw battle by 10%. It's safe to say the Cardinals will be spending a good deal of practice time on the line in the next couple days. Check out our Home Page for more stories and follow us on Twitter and Facebook
