A welterweight bout between Rory MacDonald (Pictured) and BJ Penn was the second scrap to air live during Saturday’s “UFC on FOX: Henderson vs. Diaz” broadcast. The show is headlined by a lightweight title tilt between champ Benson Henderson and Nate Diaz. Betting Line: Favorite (-) Underdog (+) Rory MacDonald -280 BJ Penn +210 Here is the play-by-play from Penn vs. MacDonald: 1stRound: Penn surprisingly goes for the takedown, but MacDonald easily reverses him against the cage. They separate and start their standup attacks. MacDonald scores with a body shot and a nice head kick. Penn counters with a right hand. MacDonald really working the leg kicks. Penn tags him with a right and immediately goes for a takedown to no avail. Left hook to the stomach by MacDonald. Penn is wobbled by an elbow strike. Penn already appears gassed. 2ndRound: MacDonald’s hands look sharp. He’s nailing Penn with pretty much anything he wants. Penn answers with a right punch. MacDonald clocks him with a kick to the midsection, then a barrage of other kicks. Penn is eating countless strikes, especially to the body. Referee Herb Dean was close to stepping in to stop it a couple of times. MacDonald secures a takedown with the greatest of ease. 3rdRound: Penn’s face is bruised and battered. He’s trying to drag MacDonald to the ground, but can’t. MacDonald has the Hawaiian clinched against the cage. MacDonald doing some taunting and draws boos from the crowd. Could this mark the final 60 seconds of Penn’s illustrious career? MacDonald is pelted with boos for taunting Penn.
