Phillies-roy-halladay
Philadelphia Phillies' pitcher Roy Halladay, who had surgery in early May to repair damage to his right shoulder, is scheduled to make his first rehab start with the rookie-level Gulf Coast League Phillies on Thursday. As reported by Todd Zolecki of MLB.com, Phillies general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. said that Halladay may only require two rehab starts before rejoining the Phillies rotation. "If he goes in a straight line, I don't see him going more than two before he comes and pitches for us. But a lot of it depends on how he feels. If he feels good, we'll progress him. There's a chance, an outside chance. I don't know what kind of chance, but there's a chance." The timing of the rehab start means that Halladay could return as early as August 25th against the Arizona Diamondbacks. If Halladay needs the full 30 days that pitchers are allowed on rehab assignments, he will return no later than September 14. With the Phillies long out of the playoff race, the return of Halladay could give the team and fans a little to look forward to.  Both the fans and organization have to see what Halladay can bring to the table following the injury and to see if they can move forward with him in 2014.
