MLB Injury News:
In Sunday's 6-1 loss against the Diamondbacks, the Colorado Rockies lost starting pitcher Roy Oswalt and All-Star outfielder Carlos Gonzalez due to injuries.
As reported by Thomas Harding of MLB.com,
"...on Sunday afternoon, when the Rockies needed someone to pull them out of
the doldrums, the plan went awry when Oswalt limped off with a
hamstring strain after 1 2/3 innings..."
" Making matters worse, All-Star left fielder Carlos Gonzalez left the
game with a sprained right middle finger after fouling off a
ninth-inning pitch from D-backs reliever Josh Collmenter."
The Rockies, who are 5 1/2 games out in the National League West, are still without Dexter Fowler and Troy Tulowitzki, and will likely have to put Roy Oswalt on the disabled list. There is no word yet as to how much time Gonzalez will miss.
Oswalt, who has a career record of 163-99 with a 3.31 earned run average, pitched in only 17 games last season and is 0-4 with a 7.64 earned run average this season.
Gonzalez, who had 22 home runs and a .303 batting average in 2012, already has 24 home runs this season. He is a career .300 hitter with 123 home runs in 666 Major League games.
