Via Jon Heyman of Sports Illustrated:
Yankees won’t go for Downs or other Type-A relievers because they want to keep draft choices.
This is actually nothing new, but there have been some people out there who have tried to attach the Yankees to LHP Scott Downs so I wanted to throw this out there again.
The other Type-A relievers, aside from Downs, that have been offered arbitration are righties Rafael Soriano and Grant Balfour. There are others, but they weren’t offered arbitration and won’t cost the Yankees a draft pick as a result.
