Fox Sports Southwest:
The Saints first round draft pick Kenny Vaccaro is certainly distinguishing himself on the field this training camp with his aggressive style. The former Texas Longhorn says it's all about defining himself and playing with an edge.
"I'm just real physical. That's the way the game should be played. I think I have an old school style," says Vaccaro.
But sometimes that physicality carries Vaccaro into questionable territory - such as during blocking drills Wednesday against the wide receivers when Vaccaro got into it against both Chris Givens and Preston Parker.
Some critics are questioning whether Vaccaro's aggressiveness goes too far. He has accidentally bounced a ball off of tight end Jimmy Graham's head and thrown Travaris Cadet to the ground.
Vaccaro took to Twitter to respond to his critics after practice Wednesday, saying he has never crossed any boundaries.
"Just want to quickly address some of the stories coming out about my actions during camp. In all my years of football I've never been ejected from a game or been called a dirty player. I've always taken pride in playing aggressively but within the confines of the rules. I'm blessed to play the sport I love & have been given the opportunity to make a living doing so. I play every snap, whether it be practice or a game, like it could be my last. I have nothing but the utmost respect for all my teammates, especially the veterans that have helped maintain the Saints legacy and would never intentionally disrespect any of them. I never purposely threw a football at Jimmy and or hit anyone outside of a padded drill. So until my coaches, teammates or my mother tells me to take it easy I will continue to leave it all out on the field. WhoDat"
Saints veteran Will Smith is rallying to Vaccaro's defense, saying he likes what he sees.
"Definitely. For the rookie, you don't see that with rookies coming in just flying around and banging guys every single day over and over and over," says Smith. "Now we have to see if he can do it in a game on Sundays. We know he is going to be a terrific player and he has to continue to get better in coverages and tackling."
Vaccaro's fellow rookie - Oklahoma product Kenny Stills - is well familiar with his style, after the two clashed several times in the Big 12. Stills says people just need some time to warm up to Vaccaro.
"Yes, we have had some heated rivalries there with Kenny," says Stills. "I know what type of player he is, and he knows what type of player I am. I think it has taken a little bit for the other guys and the rest of the team to get used to him."
As long as Vaccaro can channel that aggressive energy and keep it legal, his physicality may be just the type of spark the Saints defense needs.

A SAINT AFTER ALL?
Saints quarterback Drew Brees took to Twitter in an attempt to set the record straight over the accusation that he left a waitress a horrible tip.
Ben Watson- The former New England Patriot and Cleveland Brown signed with the New Orleans Saints this past offseason. Though his signing didn’t get much hype or attention, Watson may prove to be very important. Watson brings more skill and athleticism to the tight end position which already features the best tight end in the game. The pairing of Watson and Jimmy Graham gives the...
Drew Brees is fighting back, and disputing the claim that he’s an awful tipper.
Brees, who is one the richest athletes in professional sports, caught some flak on Tuesday after reportedly leaving a $3 tip on a $74 bill.
Brees was having none of that, and took to Twitter to defend himself. Brees made it known that his order was take-out, and had he dined in, the tip would...
Drew Brees says he's amazed his $3 tip on a $74 takeout order last month has become a talking point on national television and the Internet.
The quarterback was in the locker room at Saints headquarters Thursday morning when he noticed a discussion on a network morning show about tipping on takeout orders, referencing a photograph of his takeout receipt that was circulated online...
First, it looks like THE DIRTY is about to get the waitress fired.
I want to make it every clear to management at Del Mar Rendezvous that Carissa DID NOT submit this receipt of cheapo Drew Brees. Contacts at the restaurant have told me you will be meeting with her tonight to discuss termination. Drew Brees is the 3 dollar tipper, don’t fire her because of his actions.- nik
Saints receiver Lance Moore would prefer not to be called the old man on the team. But at 29 he's already earning that distinction.
"I don't really like it" he joked. "I don't want Sean (Payton) to come up to me and call me one of the old guys.
"He has done it a couple times already during camp and I don't want to get that label."
The New Orleans Saints signed wide receiver Tim Toone to be a camp body, replacing wide receiver Brent Leonard. With the amount of quality wideouts in camp for the Saints, the odds of Toone breaking camp and making the 53-man roster is minimal at best.

Nik Richie, of TheDirty.com fame, does not discriminate when it comes to outing the lowlifes of America. This includes beloved Saints quarterback Drew Brees, who Richie confirmed left a $3.00 tip on a $74.41 tab at Del Mar Rendezvous in Del Mar, California, earlier this month. Based on reports of the waitress being fired for publicly outing Brees’ stinginess, Richie released a...
Drew Brees may donate millions to charity and host fundraisers for cancer patients, but apparently stiffing one California waitress is enough to overshadow all those pesky good deeds and earn him the label of “cheap bastard”, according to one absurd website. The Dirty posted a receipt leaked by someone from Del Mar Rendezvous restaurant, which claims to show Brees left a $3...
A woman who could become the NFL's first female official is training at New Orleans Saints training camp this week.
Sarah Thomas, who lives near Jackson, Miss., is a former college basketball player who started officiating high school games at age 23 and says she never dreamed then that she could become a candidate to officiate NFL games.
Now 40-years old and with three children...
I can’t believe this is still a thing, or was even a thing in the first place, but Drew Brees caught some flack yesterday for leaving a $3 tip on a $74 bill about a month ago. Some ass-hat who works at a the Del Mar Rendezvous Chinese fusion restaurant in California snapped a picture of the receipt and posted it on Reddit, but failed to mention the receipt...
We can all breath a sigh of relief. Drew Brees is a good tipper. The infamous bill indicating otherwise was for a take-out order.
Rest-assured, Saints fans. Everything we always thought we knew about Drew Brees turns out to be totally true. There was a mini-uproar this week when a waitress claimed Brees stiffed her on a tip for a $75 bill. A copy of the receipt was posted on the website, “The Dirty.” Turns out, it was only part of the story. The bill was actually for a takeout order, which means even...
