It's been six years since Sammy Sosa appeared in a Major League Baseball game. For the most part he has stayed away from the spotlight he used to love. But a decade after nearly making it to the World Series with the Cubs Sosa reflected on his legacy in a rare interview for “5 Outs” a Comcast SportsNet documentary looking back on the unforgettable 2003 season that will run Oct. 15 at 9 p.m. When asked if he would ever be willing to return to Wrigley Field Sosa didn't hesitate. "One hundred percent. I cannot wait for that day" Sosa said. "I would be willing to do that anytime they decided to do it." Sosa – who refused to talk about the suspicions he used performance-enhancing drugs to turbocharge his numbers with the Cubs – wants to put on a show again for those fans in the bleachers. "I would be happy to go out there and be on Wrigley Field" he said. "Make sure that people see me again make sure that I'm there because the memories they have about Sammy Sosa are big and the love that they have for me is big. "When the day comes when the time is right I'll be there." At Cubs Convention last January chairman Tom Ricketts hinted there could eventually be a thaw in the cold war between Sosa and the organization. Sosa hit 545 of his 609 career home runs in a Cubs uniform but received only 12.5 percent of the vote in his first time up for the Hall of Fame. “With Sammy it’s awkward” Ricketts said then. “I think over time there will be a good solution for all this stuff. But obviously we saw what happened with the Hall of Fame voting this year. I don’t know. It would be nice to put this chapter to rest and just welcome back all the guys who were from that era who were suspected of doing whatever.”
