Fox Sports Ohio:
Ohio State Buckeyes
Dane Sanzenbacher was an afterthought of a waiver pickup by the Bengals last December. The Toledo native and former Ohio State wide receiver had been let go by the Chicago Bears after nearly two seasons so the Bengals gladly put a claim on Sanzenbacher.
Sanzenbacher might have been an afterthought last year but he made his presence felt in Thursdays 34-10 win against Atlanta in the preseason opener for both teams. Sanzenbacher has had a good training camp but if anyone that counted wasnt paying attention he made sure they took notice by catching two passes for 59 yards, including a 36-yard touchdown from quarterback John Skelton early in the fourth quarter, and returning a punt 71 yards for another score.
Making the Bengals as a wide receiver isnt going to be easy if your name isnt A.J. Green but Thursdays game puts Sanzenbacher squarely in contention for a roster spot.
It was nice to make out on the opportunities that you get, said Sanzenbacher during the postgame radio show. Ob...

It’s finally here; NFL football has finally arrived – sort of. Those of you looking for a reason to have the buddies over to tailgate, brush the dust of the jerseys, and feast on the greases of grilled meats, can breathe again.
If you’re like me, you understand that this first game is the equivalent to AAA baseball teams playing in May. So what are the things we can expect...
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter via Rotoworld.com, the Cincinnati Bengals are making a “strong push” to sign defensive tackle Geno Atkins to a long-term contract extension.
They’re getting “aggressive,” per Schefter. 25 years old, Atkins is owed $1.423 million in the final year of his rookie deal, and has emerged the past two seasons as the premier gap-shooting 4...
Geno Atkins is an absolute beast at defensive tackle, and wants to be paid as such.
Atkins, who is the best 4-3 defensive tackle in football, has one year and $1.42 million remaining on the rookie contract he signed with the Bengals in 2010.
After locking up Carlos Dunlap to a long term deal, the Bengals and Atkins would like to get a deal done sooner than later.
The two sides...

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Cincinnati Bengals are making an “aggressive” push to sign DT Geno Atkins to a long-term extension.
This coincides with a recent report from CBS Sports’ Jason La Canfora, which mentioned that there is “ongoing dialogue,” between the two parties.
Atkins, 25, has quickly become of the best interior lineman in the entire game. Last...
The first episode of HBO’s “Hard Knocks: Training Camp with the Cincinnati Bengals” debuted on Tuesday, and one thing stood out immediately: James Harrison is not a fan of the show. Rather, Harrison is not a fan of having a camera follow him around to record everything he does while he’s busy working. See, Harrison [...]
Bengals rookie Rex Burkhead looked sharp, rushing for 52 yards on nine carries against Atlanta, in the first preseason game for each team.Fantasy Spin:Burkhead has some talent, but with BenJarvus Green-Ellis and Giovani Bernard ahead of him on the depth chart he doesn't figure to get much work this season.
Giovani Bernard ran for a touchdown, Josh Johnson directed two second-quarter touchdown drives and Cincinnati cruised to a 34-10 preseason win over the Atlanta Falcons on Thursday night.
Bernard, a second-round pick from North Carolina competing for a significant share of the Bengals' carries, played behind returning starter Benjarvus Green-Ellis and had 10 carries for 28 yards...
ATLANTA (AP) -- The Cincinnati Bengals are looking to show they're better equipped to be a factor in the AFC after losing in the first round of the playoffs each of the last two years.
The Bengals made their opening case Thursday night with a 34-10 preseason win over an Atlanta Falcons team coming off a spot in the NFC championship game.
Cincinnati showed off new depth at quarterback...
ATLANTA (AP) --Giovani Bernard scored in his opening bid for a share of the Bengals' carries, while Steven Jackson was provided little running room by the Falcons' depleted offensive line as Cincinnati rolled to a 34-10 preseason win over Atlanta on Thursday night.
Josh Johnson, who directed two second-quarter touchdown drives, made big plays as a passer and runner as he...
The Atlanta Falcons opened up their preseason against the Cincinnati Bengals at the Georgia Dome. It's silly to say it was a "loss" because I'm still not convinced that anyone actually wins or loses preseason games. Maybe if we'd change the name to Player Evaluation Scrimmages, the fans would be much less apt to lose their collective minds over a lopsided score...
