GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Phoenix Coyotes President and CEO Anthony LeBlanc announced Thursday that Wednesday night's intrasquad scrimmage game to benefit the families of the Granite Mountain Hotshots raised a total of 165,198. All of the money raised will be distributed directly to the families of the firefighters that were lost in the Yarnell Hill fire on June 30. "We are overwhelmed by the outpouring of support we received from Coyotes fans last night," said LeBlanc. "The game was all about giving back to the community and helping those in need. We have some of the most loyal and dedicated fans in the entire National Hockey League, and we can't thank them enough for their incredible support." Ticket sales from the game combined with the 5050 raffle and player-signed jerseys auction generated 67,599. The Coyotes ownership group IceArizona, LLC, matched these efforts by donating an additional 67,599, while the Coyotes players donated 25,000. The Coyotes Alumni Association also contributed 5,000. The Coyotes next preseason home game is Sept. 27 when the team takes on the San Jose Sharks at Jobing.com Arena. Game time is 7 p.m. The Coyotes home and season opener is on Oct. 3 when the Coyotes meet the New York Rangers. Game time is 7 p.m.
