The Seattle Seahawks have added needed depth on the defensive line by agreeing to terms with free agent defensive tackle Jason Jones.
The team confirmed the agreement Saturday. Terms of the deal were not announced, but Jones' agent, Mike McCartney, said on Twitter the deal is for one-year.
Jones has spent his first four seasons with the Tennessee Titans where he had 15 1/2 sacks. He was used as a defensive tackle and end last season, and his versatility fits with Seattle's defensive philosophy. The 6-foot-5, 276-pound Jones started 15 games in 2010 and 13 last season.
BEST OF MAXIM
The Seattle Seahawks have had huge scores in free agents this offseason. They resigned Marshawn Lynch and big Red Bryant. Then they picked up DT Jason Jones to help with their inside pass rush and then came their biggest offseason gain so far QB Matt Flynn. The Seahawks just needed to make a few strong
Last summer the Seattle Seahawks signed former Minnesota Vikings quarterback Tarvaris Jackson to a 2-year contract and head coach Pete Carroll announced him as the starter not too long after. Jackson played in 15 games, completing 60% of his passes for 3,091 yards, 14 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions. Seattle finished the season 22nd [...]
By landing former Titans defensive lineman Jason Jones, Seahawks have finally signed a free agent who wasn't on the roster last season. Jones has experience at both defensive end and tackle, and there's a good chance he'll compete with Alan Branch for the starting 3-tech position. Branch is strong against the run, but doesn't find his way into the backfield very...

Quarterback Matt Flynn agreed to a three-year deal with the Seattle Seahawks worth $26M, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.
So Seattle plucked Flynn away from Miami - who is now likely to focus on signing Alex Smith after also falling out of the running for Peyton Manning. Flynn should beat out Tarvaris Jackson for the starting gig in Seattle, and looks to rank as...

Quarterback Charlie Whitehurst has agreed to a two-year contract to return to the San Diego Chargers.

So in one of the more strange, weird, wacky QB free agency shuffling going on right about now, the Seattle Seahawks may have struck first as the NFL waits for Peyton Manning to make up his mind already. Peter King, among many, is now reporting that Matt Flynn has agreed to a 3-year, $26 million dollar deal with the Seahawks, but only $10 million of it is guaranteed. And per...

If you somehow haven’t heard yet, news broke around 2:30 on Sunday that the Seahawks have signed former Green Bay backup quarterback Matt Flynn to a contract that could be worth a total of $26 million with $10 million guaranteed.
My gut reaction: This is the best thing that’s ever happened to me in my 15 years of existence.
Finally, the Seahawks have...
