The Seattle Mariners signed infielder Alex Cintron, who was designated for assignment by the Nationals on May 20, to a minor league contract today. Cintron will join Triple-A Tacoma. Cintron, played in 21 games before getting designated for assignment. He mainly plays second base, shortstop, and third base. He should serve as a utility man if he gets called up to the big leagues. He only hit .077 as a member of the Washington Nationals. This should mean 2B/SS Josh Wilson will be leaving Seattle very soon. Cintron is more experienced as a utility man and Wilson has struggled thus far on his limited playing time. Cintron is the fourth former Nationals brought in by Jack Zduriencik (Chad Cordero, Steven Shell, Ryan Langerhans and Cintron).
