There are few cities that are going to be as excited for the 2013 NFL season to start as the Seattle Seahawks. After Russell Wilson emerged from the middle of the draft to win the starting job the Seahawks went on the have the best season fans have seen in years--and that was with a slow start as Wilson adjusted to the pro game.
A year later and a year better the fans are looking to do something the franchise has never done--win the Super Bowl and become world champions. Before they do that they have aims of becoming world class when the Seahawks open the regular season against the San Francisco 49ers.
In fact, they want to become world record holders; Guinness World Record holders.
A fan group that goes by the name "Volume 12"-- after the team's 12th man-- has applied to become the new Guinness Book of World Records holder for the loudest crowd in sports. Officials will be on hand to monitor the noise level of the stadium September 15 when the 49ers are in town.
If they can't do it against a rival like the 49ers than they don't stand a chance. They Seattle crowd is easily the loudest in the NFL at 112 decibels, but to beat the record they will have to reach a level higher than 131.76 (a mark set by a Turkish soccer crown in March 2011).
It will not be easy, but if there is a crowd with crazy enough fans to do it Seattle's 12th man is it.

The biggest weakness for the Seattle Seahawks defense in 2012 was the lack of a solid pass rush.
However, the Seahawks think they have upgraded that area by signing pass rusher Cliff Avril.
Seattle’s top two pass rushers Chris Clemons (ACL) and Bruce Irvin (performance-enhancing drug suspension) won’t be available for the start of the season.
That makes Avril's presence...
I’m a Seattle Seahawks fan and hope Darren Fells turns into Tony Gonzalez, but I’m not taking that emotion into the fantasy football draft with me.
I’m not a fantasy football genius, but I’m not as dumb as I used to be. I’ve been playing for six or seven years now. I once dropped Brandon Jacobs at 3AM thinking he was Brandon Jackson. I once picked a backup quarterback...
After a pretty strong rookie season in 2012, the Seattle Seahawks plan on moving defensive end Bruce Irvin to outside linebacker, according to Eric D. Williams of the News Tribune.
The West Virginia product led all rookies in sacks last year with eight as a part-time player coming in at defensive end in passing situations. But Carroll plans on moving the 6-foot-3, 245-pounder to...

The Seattle Seahawks made a bold move this offseason when they acquired the volatile and versatile Percy Harvin from the Minnesota Vikings. Seattle's newest wide receiver is here to not just enhance — but lead — the Seahawks to offensive air dominance.

I’m sure everyone remembers the incident during the Green Bay Packers-Seattle Seahawks game where the replacement referees called a touchdown on a play that shouldn’t have been a touchdown. At a recent charity softball game, Seahawks wide receiver Golden Tate was photographed with the replacement referee Lance Easley that called the play a touchdown. Tate, as you may recall...
On September 15, the Seahawks will open up their home schedule against their now-hated divisional foe, the San Francisco 49ers. There's no doubt the stadium will be rockin', but just how loud will they be? Thanks to the fan organization Volume 12, we'll know.

Seattle Seahawks fans are known to bring the noise, but can they be the loudest in sports? An unofficial Seahawks fan group known as Volume 12, named after the team’s famous “12th Man” has successfully applied to the Guinness Book of World Records, according to the group’s Facebook page, to have CenturyLink Field’s noise level monitored at the team’s Sept. 15 home opener...

The Seahawks are taking on NFC West rival San Francisco in the second week of the NFL season, and Seattle fans are hoping to set a world record noise-level.
Caution is not one of my fortes. It was absent when I tried to pull off that sick wheelie in grade school, only to descend upon a parked car's windshield. I could cut off a few strokes from my golf game employing restraint instead of John Daly's "Aw, why the hell not?" mentality. Given I'm often shot down like the unidentified bad guys in Top Gun , maybe prudence...
