Credit: Steven Robles – SF Giants Rumors Let’s be glad it’s still early on in the season, because the San Francisco Giants are on a five game losing streak (longest current losing streak in MLB)! They just got swept out of Petco Park by the Padres, and now start a new series tonight in Arizona. The D-Backs are also sending Ian Kennedy to the mound, and he hasn’t lost to the Giants in nine straight starts. Let’s hope tonight is the night that Kennedy’s win streak ends over the Giants, and most importantly the Giants stop this five game skid! The good news is the Giants are only two games out in the NL West, and there are still months of baseball left. It’s not the worst thing in the world to see these guys struggle early on, and fight to get back on track. That should only make them stronger down the stretch. Matt Cain is 0-2 with a 6.59 ERA, and still grinding for his first win of the 2013 season. The Giants have lost all five of Cain’s starts this year. He’s 8-4 in 16 career starts...

Matt Cain still without a win

While the San Francisco Giants were able to manage a 6-4 win in Arizona against the Diamondbacks Monday night, it was reliever Jean Machi who earned his first win of 2013, instead of the Giant’s starter and resident staff ace Matt Cain. Once again Cain wasn’t a factor in

What’s Wrong With The Giants?

Just to be clear, I’m picking more on the Warriors’ history rather than this Warriors team.  They don’t need any help against Denver.  Against the Spurs, though…well, they might. As far as the Giants go, however, they need help no matter who they’re playing.  They just got swept by San Diego.  In San Diego, which is as close to a home away from home as the Giants get...

D-backs look to bounce back vs. Bumgarner, Giants

While the Giants turn to Madison Bumgarner as he tries to continue his strong start, they also hope star third baseman Pablo Sandoval has not aggravated an injury that nagged him during spring training. With Sandoval's status uncertain, Bumgarner will try to help the visiting Giants build on their first victory in a week when he takes the mound Tuesday night against the Diamondbacks...

Giants call up Rosario to replace Mijares

The San Francisco Giants have placed left-hander Jose Mijares on bereavement leave and recalled right-hander Sandy Rosario from Triple-A Fresno. Mijares flew to Venezuela on Monday after his grandmother died of a heart attack last weekend. He was raised by her after his parents were killed in a car crash. Mijares has a 2.57 ERA in 10 games for the Giants this season. He can be...

Giants dying to put it together

It's pretty clear to this guy that the 2013 Giants are another crazy squad full of comebacks and torture. There's just something in the water over at the Cove that makes this team simultaneously maddening and magical. We're still in April, so that's why no one should be freaking out. We've seen this team go through pretty bad stretches of baseball en route to...

Giants’ Struggling Aces Seek Turnaround in May

Pitching, pitching, and more pitching. That was supposed to be the key to success for the San Francisco Giants this season. Since the post-Bonds renaissance began in 2009, an era that has already brought the city of San Francisco two world titles, the team’s calling card has been pitching and defense first. In the last four seasons, two of which saw the team win the World Series...

Finally, Matt Cain Sucks

Cain Ain’t Able Photo Credit: StormXor   For years Matt Cain has defied logic. Despite being a flyball pitcher with a mediocre batted ball profile and mediocre swing-and-miss ability, Cain has been one of the most reliable aces in fantasy baseball for a few years now. I don’t think I’ve ever owned him in a league, mostly because the price was too high considering...

Giants-Diamondbacks Preview

While Matt Cain is looking to end his longest season-opening drought in five years, the San Francisco Giants are trying to avoid their longest losing streak in almost three. That might be a difficult task against Ian Kennedy, who hasn't lost to the Giants in nine straight starts. Cain and the defending World Series champs will try to snap a five-game losing streak on Monday...

Giants' Belt breaks tie in 8th inning

Brandon Belt hit a two-run single in the eighth inning, helping the San Francisco Giants beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 6-4 Monday night to end a five-game losing streak. Belt also had a solo homer in the second inning against Ian Kennedy. The first baseman broke a 4-all tie in the eighth after Brad Ziegler (1-1) gave up a leadoff double to Nick Noonan and walked two. Marco Scutaro...

Sandoval sinks D-backs with 9th-inning homer off Putz

PHOENIX -- Pablo Sandoval hit a two-run homer with one out in the top of the ninth inning and the San Francisco Giants rallied to beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 2-1 on Tuesday night. Arizona starter Trevor Cahill left after allowing a leadoff single to Angel Pagan, the Giants' fourth hit against the right-hander. J.J. Putz (2-1) came on for Arizona and struck out Marco Scutaro...

Streaking D-backs welcome slumping Giants

The Diamondbacks are playing some of their best baseball and the Giants are playing some of their worst as the teams meet for the second time in a week in a three-game series that begins Monday at Chase Field. Sparked by extra-inning victories in the final two games of the previous series at AT&T Park, Arizona has won five of its last six games to pull into a tie for first place...

D-backs cooled off as Giants snap five-game skid

PHOENIX (AP) -- Brandon Belt hit a two-run single in the eighth inning, helping the San Francisco Giants beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 6-4 Monday night to end a five-game losing streak. D-backs' blown save count hits 10 in loss to Giants

PHOENIX The Diamondbacks spent the offseason fortifying their bullpen, which has made its early struggles even more mystifying. The D-backs suffered their major league-high 10th failed save conversion when closer J.J. Putz gave up a two-run home run to Pablo Sandoval for a 2-1 San Francisco victory at Chase Field on Tuesday. Sandoval hit a split-finger pitch that stayed up in...

Giants’ Pitching, Defense Struggle in 12 inning loss to Padres

These are not your World Champion San Francisco Giants. The last few days have been much more reminiscent of the mid 1990’s Giants, replete with inconsistent pitching and shaky defense. It is frequently said that to win any given game a team needs two of the three staples of any game, pitching, hitting and defense. While the Giants’ offense managed seven runs and eleven hits...

Giants 2, Diamondbacks 1

Pablo Sandoval hit a two-run homer with one out in the top of the ninth inning and the San Francisco Giants rallied to beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 2-1 on Tuesday night. Arizona starter Trevor Cahill left after allowing a leadoff single to Angel Pagan, the Giants' fourth hit against the right-hander. J.J. Putz (2-1) came on for Arizona and struck out Marco Scutaro, and quickly...
