Stories such as this have been popping up for the past 2 weeks and I am sick of it. Before you start judging the Canucks, let me remind all of you about a few things.
1-ALL potential cup winning teams (as of the last couple of games in the final round of playoffs) discuss the parade. It is not the players themselves planning the parade! Its not like the Sedins, Kesler & Luongo are sitting around discussing who gets shotgun next to the cup!. It is the responsibility of the management, the NHL, and team owner(s) to start the planning process with the city. The parade is a huge event that needs lots of planning (where, when, how). ALL teams discuss, plan, & prepare for the parade so WHEN and IF it happens they & the city are not scrammbling to get things done. The unfortunate thing with the Canucks was that "someone" prematurely leaked this information to the media & this reflected poorly on the team & organization. The Bruins were planning as well, they just didn't have a rat walking amongst them & their dressing room walls did not have ears.
2-To suggest the Canucks are "cocky" and pretentious is absurd! Then with that reasoning the person in charge of the Stanley Cup & the NHL are also cocky for bringing The Cup to every potentially cup winning game (i.e. game 6 in Boston where the Canucks had a chance to win). If the cup is in the building does that make the Canucks cocky?? Do people ask why was the cup brought there? Do people ask why did the NHL think Bruins would lose?? They have to bring the cup.....they HAVE to start planning for a potential parade!!!
3-Re. Cancuks (Luongo's) comments about Thomas: Its funny how no one looks at the entire comment. Luongo also said that Thomas makes lots of saves he (luongo) does not! And right or wrong Luongo was trying to boost his team & himself. FREE SPEECH people & he is allowed, don't hang him! How come when Jonathan Toews (Black Hawks) ranted about the Canucks people in the media & fans praised him for boosting his team???? How come Toews & the Hawks weren't deemed cocky & pretentious???
4-Bottom line: People like to have a villain. This year it was the Canucks. Its always hard being the prettiest girl in school!! And a bit of cockiness comes with the territory. The Canucks were & are an outstanding team. No one can take that away from them. During the regular season they were amazing & unbeatable! During the playoffs they were outstanding for 3 rounds and you have to give them that as well.
