The B1g Time:
Well, the city of Madison is stunned today to say the least, as Yahoo! Sports' Pat Forde broke the news that Bret Bielema will be introduced as the next head coach of the Arkansas Razorbacks and sources confirmed this information to our fellow Bloguin brothers at MadTown Badgers. All those associated with the program have reacted with one word and one word only - STUNNED.
To say this came about fast is an understatement. Less than 24 hours there weren't even rumors of this hire happening. In talking to The Big 1070 the voice of the Badgers, Mike Lucas, stated that this had to be about money because of the timing of making this decision. Bielema made $2.5 million as the Badgers head coach this past year and according to reports the Arkansas offer was at least $4.5 million.
Of course, who wouldn't be enticed by $2 million more a year, right? After all, it's all about the benjamin's baby! The move hasn't been made official by Wisconsin or Arkansas because of an apparent hang up on Bielema coaching in the Rose Bowl or not.
It's hard to see how Bielema coaches the Rose Bowl in this situation as players and assistants have to feel a sense of shock and betrayl after winning the Big Ten championship game for the second straight year and the third straight Rose Bowl.
Wisconsin joins Purdue as the teams in the Big Ten with coaching vacanceys and Butch Jones has been a name rumored already for both jobs. Other names thought to be possibilities for the Badgers are Pitt head coach Paul Chryst, NC State head coach Dave Doeren, Cincinnati head coach Butch Jones, and current Seahawks and former Badger QB Darrell Bevell.

Bret Bielema was Barry Alvarez’ hand-picked successor when he stepped down at Wisconsin following the 2005 season. Seven years later, Bielema is leaving the Badgers for the SEC’s Arkansas Razorbacks.
This is a bit of a shocker, and the biggest surprise of the college football coaching carousel season.
